The NICET Basic program contains 1 notebook and 12 CDs with a running time of about nine hours. The detailed study notebook is keyed to the audio discussions and highlights all the references you will need for the exam. The program gives you a great start toward NICET Certification in either Automatic Sprinklers, Fire Alarms, Special Hazards or Water Based Inspections.
NICET BASIC Course Listing
Sample audio clip 1 - Element: 11006 - Intermediate Math
Sample audio clip 2 - Element: 11007 - Physical Science
NICET BASIC contains INDIVIDUAL discussions on each of the work elements which NICET considers to be common requirements for technical practitioners in the fire protection industry. NICET refers to these as "crossover" work elements. Passing a "crossover" work element in one subfield automatically gives the candidate credit for that element in one or more additional fire protection subfields.
Ten of these work elements apply toward certification in fire alarms. All twelve apply toward certification in both automatic sprinklers and special hazards.
The NICET BASIC work elements include discussions of fire protection-related drafting, selection and use of NFPA standards, fire protection plans and symbols, building codes, metric conversions, combustion theory, mathematics, and physics. Our reviews of math and physics alone may justify the total program cost.
NICET BASIC concludes with general discussions on several subjects which are of particular interest to the upwardly mobile fire protection certification candidate. Specifically: communication skills, construction plans, specifications and cost estimates, and contracts.
